Hand Reflexology for Quick Digestive Results

Quick Hand Reflexology to Help with Digestion

Hand reflexology is rather useful over the Thanksgiving holiday when spending time with friends and family. If someone is experiencing digestive discomfort consider reflexology. First, simply press on the palms of their hands. Second, you can do this to yourself as well. Third, you do not need to know exactly which part of digestion you are reaching. The entire palms of the hands will cover it all. Above all, press-in and circle, press-down and slide back and forth. Try to do this for three to five minutes each hand. Results can be rather quick. Lastly, be careful and precise! Reflexology technique is very specific. It is not similar to massage technique which is usually long strokes.

Hand Reflexology, Results for Your Friends and Family

Offer hand reflexology to a friend or family member with digestive discomfort. Furthermore, keep it in mind during the Thanksgiving holiday. Consequently, It is a great way to potentially help them feel better! Give it a shot, I think you will see it is worth the effort, even from a novice.

Reflexology Classes

I teach foot reflexology classes (the Manzanares Method) at Tribe in Chicago. These are 8 hour continuing education seminars. Every class focus is different. I teach different parts of the body and the corresponding points on the feet for each class. The reflexology points in the feet can also be found in the hands. Last year I taught a class which focussed on digestive organs. The digestive organ reflex points are found on the bottom of the feet, in the middle. Similarly, we use the palms of the hands for the same points. Both can achieve good results for digestion. The class was a success. As a result, I will teach that class again in the future!

Upcoming Reflexology Class Schedule

My next class is February 22, 2020 in Chicago at Tribe. Class focus is basic bladder and pelvic floor health. All are welcome! reflexfeet.com or manzanaresmethod.com to sign up-

Reflexology Class about Heart Health Reflex Points

Believe it or not, Reflexology, when using Manzanares Method technique, will improve the state of the coronary arteries and potentially prevent the client from future cardiovascular scares, as taught in my upcoming reflexology class. It is true that the client will have to modify their habits but it is great to know that a Medical Dr in Barcelona (using reflexology to diagnose and treat) has seen excellent results for his patients with cardiovascular diseases. I will be teaching a reflexology class focusing on heart health reflex points at my next Manzanares Method of Reflexology seminar in Chicago- Saturday 10/26/19 at Tribe, 1819 W Belmont.

High Blood Pressure and Reflexology-

One of the things I love most about studying reflexology from a medical Dr. (Dr. Manzanares, Barcelona) is learning the origin, nature and course of different diseases and using that knowledge to help the client with reflexology. A reflexology session for a client with High Blood Pressure (Hypertension) will include the not only the heart reflex points but also the kidney, Central Nervous System (CNS) and the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) reflex points.

I will be teaching heart health reflex points at my next Manzanares Method of Reflexology seminar in Chicago- Saturday 10/26/19 at Tribe, 1819 W Belmont.

Manzanares Method of Reflexology classes in Chicago

After studying with Dr. Manzanares for 7 years, in 2017 I went to Barcelona for one-on-one training to receive my masters certificate in the Manzanares Method of Reflexology. I am teaching 8 hour CE classes in Chicago. These seminars cover ‘biopsy’ research and ‘press & slide’ technique. Each class emphasizes different reflex points on the feet.

I teach the Manzanares Method of Reflexology because with this method, I have been seeing much better results with my clients. I help clients much more with this method!

The next date is October 26, 2019 and will focus on heart health reflex points.

All are welcome!

The Science of Reflexology

Click to watch testimonial from student

Dr. Jesus Manzanares, a medical Dr. from Barcelona, uses reflexology to diagnosis and treat his patients. Over the last few decades he has conducted research including documenting the ‘mechanism of action’ for reflexology where he biopsied the feet on patients with a specific diagnosis. The impulse we create on the feet is picked up by the peripheral nervous system an
d eventually communicates with the brain which then causes positive biochemical changes in the body. His research also shows that the pressure on the feet has to be tailored to the clients pain threshold for it to be effective. Gentle or soft pressure will suit some clients while others will need more precise and robust pressure.

Three Clinical Studies involving Reflexology!

I have loved being involved as lead reflexologist in these studies for the past 11 years.

The third multi-site/longitudinal, randomized clinical trial for reflexology and quality of life during cancer treatment is underway.

The first and second studies received statistically significant results in support of reflexology.

Funded by the National Institutes of Health, these studies are establishing reflexology as an important therapy for symptom management during cancer treatment.

Study 1:“Reflexology: An intervention for Advanced Breast Cancer”

Completed 2010,http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3576031/

clinicaltrials.govidentifier #, NTC01577420

Basic results-

  • Reflexology is safe.
  • Reflexology is a specialized therapy; it is not foot massage.
  • Significant improvement in dyspnea (shortness of breath) and ability to function in everyday activities such as walking up a flight of stairs or carry a bag of groceries.

Study 2:“Home-Based Symptom Management via Reflexology for Breast Cancer patients” Completed April, 2018, clinicaltrials.gov identifier #, NTC01582971

Basic Results-

The total symptom scores showed significant improvement after reflexology. This total symptom improvement was led by the strength of improvements in fatigue and pain with all other symptoms also showing improvement in the total symptom score (nausea/vomiting, disturbed sleep, distress or being upset, shortness of breath, difficulty remembering things, lack of appetite, dry mouth or sore mouth, feeling sad, numbness and tingling, diarrhea/constipation).

Study 3: “Using SMART Design to Improve Symptom Management Strategies Among Cancer Patients”

This study is currently underway.2015-2020Over 400 dyads have enrolled thus far.

Cancer Clinics in Michigan, Chicago and Arizona are working with this study.

Principal Investigators for all three studies- Gwen Wyatt, PhD, RN, FAAN—Alla Sikorskii, PhD

(Michigan State University, College of Nursing)
